{"id":2178,"date":"2016-01-21T10:54:17","date_gmt":"2016-01-20T23:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/subbuteoaustralia.com\/?p=2178"},"modified":"2016-01-21T10:54:17","modified_gmt":"2016-01-20T23:54:17","slug":"australian-squad-for-international-friendly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/subbuteoaustralia.com\/?p=2178","title":{"rendered":"Australian Squad for International Friendly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MEDIA RELEASE, JAN 18, 2016<\/p>\n<p>STRONG AUSTRALIAN LINE-UP SELECTED FOR UPCOMING SINGAPORE CLASH<\/p>\n<p>Australian Table Football Association president Steve Dettre today announced the Australian team to take on Singapore at the Australian Grand Prix tournament at Sydney\u2019s 99 on York this Sunday 24th January.<\/p>\n<p>The AGP will commence on Friday 22nd with a gala welcome dinner, and the Grand Prix event will follow on the Saturday.  On the Sunday, international club competition will feature in the morning, with the internationals in the afternoon.  Australia \u201cB\u201d will play Singapore \u201cB\u201d as a curtain raiser to the \u201cA\u201d teams doing battle to close of the weekend\u2019s action.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the strongest line-ups we have fielded at international level for some time\u201d said Dettre.  \u201cHaving the international tournament at the same event, has ensured attendance from some of our country\u2019s strongest players\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore\u2019s Den Mulia Musni recently won the International Open of Singapore and is one of the top-ranked players in Asia &#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>Table Football, or \u201cSubbuteo\u201d as it is widely known, is a game simulating association football.  For many years it was marketed as &#8220;the replica of Association Football&#8221; or \u201cTable Soccer\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas, Green and Raffaele Lombardi have represented Australia at World Cups and are looking forward to representing Australia on home soil again.  \u201cIt\u2019s great to have an event of this stature back in Australia\u201d, said Thomas, ranked 48 in the world.  \u201cHaving the Singapore national squad here, plus overseas clubs, plus world No. 8 Christian Haas shows that our local body is seriously getting table football going again\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Melbourne\u2019s Carl Young has formerly represented Wales, and is looking forward to representing his new home in such an event.  \u201cI can\u2019t wait\u201d, he said.  \u201cRepresenting at international level means you\u2019re playing the world\u2019s best.  I\u2019ve seen the set-up plans for 99 on York, and it\u2019s a quality venue.
