Congratulations to all my fellow board members who were elected last Sunday 5th August. Personally, it is an honour to be elected as the new President of ATFA. It is quite surreal to have been nominated by FISTF President and ATFA Legend Steve Dettre some 30 years after first getting in touch with Steve in his role in the old ATSA / ASA, sending me the old Tri-Flick “magazines” and VHS tapes of Gary Hosie vs Willy Hoffman that elevated my interested in the game. As ATFA President I endeavour to help build upon the great foundations set by Benji Batten and his passionate board.
Two of the immediate priorities of the incoming board are:
– FISTF transfers. These must be completed this month. More information will be distributed shortly to clubs on what is required.
– ATFA Memberships. The current memberships expire on 31st August. With membership required to compete in FISTF events (IO, GP and satellites), at only $10 this represents a great value way to support ATFA and cover costs associated with FISTF registration. The process for renewal and new members joining will be announced soon.
Finally, I would also like to pass on my best wishes to those that are representing Australia at the upcoming World Cup in Gibraltar:
It was great to catch up with Fabrizio and Benji this week in Melbourne as they finalise their preparations. Like many ATFA members, I will be watching the scores (and live streams!) with interest. I am sure they will all enjoy the experience and enhance our reputation by competing with the values and behaviours of the ATFA code of conduct: Friendship, Respect, Sportsmanship, Control, and Understanding.
